AROUND THE HOTEL

Discover the La Réunion’s incredible aquarium on the central island of the Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains marina, a showcase open on to the ocean with 600 000 litres of seawater which sets the scene for the underwater wildlife of La Réunion. Come and see 500 coral fish: sharks, barracudas, moray eels, sea-horses, clownfish and coral. Children get a guided tour commented by an octopus who is also the mascot.

Nestling in a splendid 2.5 hectare park, this ethnobotanical landscape garden invites you to discover spices and holy, medicinal, magical or even aphrodisiac plants… In all, the Jardin d’Eden is home to around 700 species. You may even come across tortoises or moorhens as you wander around.

Feel like a gourmet walk? Visit the Maison de la Mangue, in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, for an initiation and an explanation of one of the most famous tropical fruits of La Réunion. The visit includes the visit of a mango field, films, explanations, and of course, tasting the fruit!

Saint-Gilles-les-Bains is currently a very famous seaside resort and visitors love to sunbathe on the white sandy beaches of Boucan Canot, Roches Noires, l’Ermitage or la Saline. This part of the coast has many advantages. It is protected from the wind and the average temperature is of the lagoon is between 22 and 28°C. La Plage de l’Ermitage is only 80 metres from the Tropic Appart’Hôtel. This supervised beach has a shallow swimming area which is ideal for children, an Aquaparc with a giant water chute and snacks for the hungry.

There are a multitude of activities for all ages and tastes around the Tropic Appart’hôtel.
For thrill-seekers, Saint-Gilles and the surrounding area is a playground. You can fly over the area with a paraglider, an ultra-light or a helicopter…
For those who prefer to keep their feet well on the ground, there are pony-rides, quad-bike rides, mountain biking or hiking (with a mountain guide if necessary), treetop adventure playgrounds and paintball, to mention just a few.

Needless to say, there are lots of water sports all around our residence. You can go diving and discover the seabed (maiden dives for newcomers to the sport), try your hand at big game fishing, go for a relaxing sail on a boat or a catamaran, take a power boat, go surfing, sail on a paddle or in a transparent canoe… and even take a boat ride to see whales and dolphins, or a little “Corail Safari” on a glass-bottomed boat to admire coral and multicoloured fish out at sea.

If you are an experienced golfer or you’d like to make the most of your stay by taking your first steps on the green, come and try the Golf du Bassin Bleu in close proximity to our residence. This 18-hole golf course at an altitude of 400 metres is enchantingly surrounded by a forest of eucalyptus trees. The golf club also has a 220 m2 swimming pool, a panoramic restaurant open to all, a VIP lounge, a lounge bar and a massage parlour.

There are a plenty of things to do in the evening around our residence. There are a number of restaurants and bars near the Tropic Appart’hôtel,. Many of them offer karaoke evenings, concerts, musical evenings or themed dancing. And you can continue your evening in the discos of the Casino L’Ermitage which also has free music nights on Fridays and Saturdays.
